Colombo: Former captain Sourav Ganguly has said Team India is keen to
upstage the Sri Lankans in their own lair and avenge the loss in the
Asia Cup final earlier this month.
''We are definitely confident of going back with a win,'' Ganguly told
mediapersons here yesterday. ''The boys are just raring to go and avenge
the Asia Cup defeat.'' The elegant left-hander refused to atach much
importance to past records when reminded that India had lost the Test
series when they last visited Sri Lanka way back in 2001.
''Well past is past. We have obviously got a good side. We have done
well all over the world and we are confident of a win here,'' Ganguly
said.
India are due to play three Tests and five one-dayers with the first
Test starting on July 23. They will open their tour with a three-day
practice match against the Sri Lanka Board XI from Friday at the NCC
sports club ground here.
