Kolkata Former India captain Sourav Ganguly on Thursday promised to raise about Rs 60 lakh for the cyclone affected people of Bengal.
Ganguly, accompanied by state Urban Development minister Ashok Bhattacharjee, called on Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee at the Writer's on Thursday.
The retired Indian batsmen, who will soon leave for England for his commentary assignment for ICC World Twenty20, said, “I'm leaving for England in a few days. But when I return hopefully we cricketers can raise about Rs 50-60 lakh for the cyclone victims.” Earlier, India football captain Bhaichung Bhutia also called on the chief minister and donated Rs 1.5 lakh to the Chief Minister's relief fund.
