Sourav, SRK light up Dadagiri grand finale

Kolkata: King Khan’s camaraderie with the Prince of Kolkata was on display at the Mohan Bagan ground, where the grand finale of television reality show, Dadagiri, was held today.

The long queue on the Gostho Pal Sarani outside Mohun Bagan ground bore evidence of the popularity of the two icons in the city.

Shah Rukh Khan was the chief guest at the grand finale of the Bengali reality show hosted by Sourav Ganguly.

Host of Kaun Banega Crorepati, Khan not only mesmerised the crowds at the ground but also sportingly agreed to be quizzed by Ganguly. The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) connection was visible all the way as Khan took part in the ‘googly round’ of the quiz.

Khan and Ganguly have been hand in glove ever since the former reinstated the Bengal left-hander as KKR captain in a bid to boost the team’s performance in next year’s IPL. Cricket, however, took a backseat today as the two entertained a packed house.

“The grass is green and so is life. I spent my first innings on the green grass of the cricket grounds. Here, as a show host, I found it very exciting. It was fabulous to share the stage with so many people from different walks of life. Tonight, as we enter the finale, I feel like I’m playing in my last Test match,” Ganguly said. He termed the episode with the differently-abled people as one closest to his heart.

He also praised his wax statue made by sculptor Sushanta Roy.

Khan’s arrival on the stage was dramatic. Wearing a grey jacket, he made his way to the dais from the Bagan members’ stand as the big screen showed a collage of his movie clips.

“It’s great to be here,” he said as the crowds in the aisles joined in his jigs and gave him a rousing reception.

Actor Bhaskar Banerjee, who was also present at the event, asked Ganguly how KKR would fare in the next IPL. The captain was prompt to pass it on to the team owner Shah Rukh Khan. “We will win and will have fun,” said Khan.
